From the very beginning, design and creativity have always been a critical component to the Combine. We as a group decided early on to have a branding structure where a volunteer designer created a branding identity and helped evolve that identity every single year. Over time, the Combine has expressed itself in a variety of ways, continually demonstrating the level of craft and talent that exists in Bloomington.
This year, we decided to take a new approach and collaborate with Indiana University and their BFA graphic design class. The Combine has had the pleasure of working with a handful of different people who have all moved on to very successful careers. We are excited to take it one step further working with IU, and creating a case study that inspires our design for 2019.
Through a series of blog posts, we will touch base with designers both past and present, as well as the ins and outs of choosing and implementing this year’s design. The featured folks will tell their stories and reiterate why design and branding is so important to not only the Combine, but to business and innovation as well.
